Last night in Rome and I found a place that wasn't just full of tourists and tourist prices.
I had to walk 3 km out of the city to get there, but then I had the best pasta dish of my life for half the price as Central Rome, hearing nothing but Italian from the 50 other diners in the bustling restaurant.
Had pasta with pigs cheek and Pecorino cheese, a half bottle of wine (which is actually 750ml which means I was pretty damn tipsy), tiramisu and a coffee for 21 euro, and it was delicious.
This was my "treat yo self" night. Which I think was deserved after walking 32km today out of Rome and along the Appian Way, an old Roman road which is the reason we have the phrase "all roads lead to Rome".
Tomorrow I leave for Pompeii. Rome definitely got better near the end.
