Very interesting day in the West bank yesterday. Went to the river Jordan through the middle of two minefields. Headed out to Jericho in the desolate but beautiful mountains, then wandered around a Palestinian town called Ramallah. Saw some original banksy art works. Next up was the fairly confronting seperating wall with its graffiti and imposing meaning, for both sides…
Strange seeing a group of 4 very young Israeli women in full battle gear patrolling in the dark, nose started burning and in the van we were told it was from tear gas nearby. Such a harsh reality for these people.
From there it was off to Bethlehem to check out the spot where Little baby Jesus was born.
Our guide was awesome and the tour really informative. Today we go deeper into the West Bank to a troubled town called Hebron at the center of some deep issues.
Living life on the edge tyks! Stay safe
I remember both Ramallah and Hebron being in the news. As bad as Ileppo today from what I remember. Am sure being with a guide is a good one, but equally do take care. And again, Tykes, your pictures are ‘something else’.
Looks like a great trip, a real eye opener. Somewhere I wanted to visit for a time. Back for Christmas?
Although I’m guessing you can’t beat Bethlehem for a venue 😇
Sounds fascinating
