Leaving Spain and for the first time in all my travels I had a flight cancelled …

Leaving Spain and for the first time in all my travels I had a flight cancelled (Thanks to some idiots flying drones around Gatwick Airport), but it turned out pretty good!

Last night I stayed in an Airbnb which was basically a bed in a room at the back of a dudes massage parlour (Not as dodgy as it sounds, I don't think), tonight I'm staying in the lap of luxury thanks to #BritishAirways! They organised everything, taxi to a super nice hotel next to the beach, 3 meals in their great restaurant (although I'm not so sure the all you can eat buffet was such a good idea now), I even got a workout at the hotel gym! And then ruined it with the all you can eat buffet…

Tomorrow they give us breakfast (just black coffee for me, go IT!), taxi us back to the airport and chuck us on available flights. Super impressed with British Airways and I don't know if cheap airlines do this, but I can't imagine it would be so impressive. One of the reasons I usually pay a bit more and stay away from the cheap airlines (one of many many reasons) is this sort of positive treatment of their clients.

Now time to sleep in my king side bed, sure beats the massage parlour…

  1. Glad to read BA came to the party, and it sure looks a good place to be, but even so having your plans thwarted is frustrating.
It happened once to us with Singapore Airlines. Were on the plane on the tarmac in Paris for over an hour and a half so missed the Singapore/Perth connection. And, like you, in Singapore were bused to a lovely hotel with everything that opened and shut, including food. But just that 1 1/2 hour wait made the wait in Singapore over 8 hours and so made it a very long flight home.
At least you’ve got an extra day of good weather!!!!
