Well that was a hell of a journey! After a chilled day strolling in the Nazca market and fighting off some light food poisoning, we jumped on a 15 hour night bus towards Cusco. Unfortunately the bus service we chose wasn't great (Civa). Not very comfy, loud and smelly for 15 hours!

We were on the top floor on windy mountain roads, so it was like being at sea in a storm, that, and the food poisoning, and the little boy throwing up next to me made for an uneasy stomach through the night. Oh and at about 3am the driver slammed on his breaks (of a double decker bus at about 4000m on the edge of a mountain) and the passengers started making banging noises shouting to change the driver as he was falling asleep! Not very confidence inspiring.

But we made it to Cusco in one piece, very tired but happy to be here. Dropped off our giant bags, found a great meal and had a quick look around the old town. Tomorrow we change hotels and book our hotel to Machu Picchu!

  1. That read as not to pleasant. But you are getting from A to B every time, and certainly experiencing different modes of transport, even if most of them become a bit scary!!! And, as you say, you are both at the next place for your continued adventures 😁
