After our trek to Machu Picchu we relaxed for a day and then hit the road to Puno and lake Titicaca. We almost skipped the tour of the floating islands after hearing how touristy they are, but while wondering around randomly our timing worked out so that we just jumped on a boat and paid a few euro for it. It was interesting to see people living on the island but yes soo incredibly touristy. Glad we saw it though.
Then it was on to Bolivia! A pretty easy border crossing aside from the driver having to change a wheel at the border, and several hours later we were in La Paz, a sprawling brown brick metropolis with one of the coolest transport systems ever, the Teleferico, a series of gondolas which connect various parts of the city, running above and around buildings, markets and streets. So fun almost like a ride itself.
Then to top it off we got to see the new Avengers movie in an absolutely packed cinema complex, where we queued for a couple hours. Worth it though as the movie was awesome! The audience even clapped at the end. We went straight from the cinema to jump on an overnight bus to Uyuni, where we sit now drinking coffee waiting to go to our hotel. In a couple days we will head to the famous salt flats and various other high desert wonders. Busy busy busy.
