Day 3. On to Chile
We started early again on this day and made a few stops before heading to Chile. Mostly based around deserts and lagoons again. The final lagoon we stopped at was near the border of Bolivia and Chile and continued the pattern of amazing scenery. From there it was straight on a bus to cross the border into Chile.
I have long wanted to go to Chile and in particular San Pedro De Atacama. Unfortunately unlike the Uyuni tour which was an awesome surprise, San Pedro was a major disappointment. Partly because it was a perfect example of over priced tourist rip offs, and partly because it was all the stuff we had just seen for a quarter of the price in Bolivia.
After checking into the most expensive and also worst accommodation of our trip. We walked around, got ripped off a few times and decided bugger it, let's leave as soon as we can. If I ever come back this way it will either be in our own van or to rent a van and stay away from this town!
And that is how we found ourselves on a 24 hour bus trip to our final destination here in South America, Valparaiso. We have rented an apartment and been really pleasantly surprised by this cool city. San Pedro may have been one of the biggest disappointments of my travels so far, but in general we have seen and done so much the adventure has been great.
Now time to chill and catch up on everything which takes a back seat when your are moving all the time. And also looking into how and where we will buy our next van in Europe!
